Surprising Fantasy Trends – Week 4

Surprising Fantasy Trends – Week 4

So how are we feeling after Week 3? Ready to hit the panic button on your fantasy team? Maybe hold off on blowing up your season for another week. Some trends and stats are really starting to shine through so get yourself educated and start your comeback in Week 4. Here are some surprising fantasy trends to get you started.

Ja’Marr Chase is crushing it.

Remember all that noise in the preseason about Chase not being able to find separation and having the yips. Well go ahead and unfollow those ‘experts’. Chase has 11 catches for 220 yards and four touchdowns in his first three games. He is thriving while Jaylen Waddle and Devonta Smith are struggling.  If you were smart enough to draft and stack him with Joe Burrow, you are probably crushing it too.

The AFC West has gone Loco.

The Raiders and Broncos are both undefeated atop the division. The Chiefs, on the other hand, are last. I know it’s only three games in, but here is a sobering stat for you. In terms of point differential, the Broncos are +50 and the Raiders a +18. The Chiefs, with that high octane offense, are a shocking -3. That’s right. Kansas City cannot score enough points to bail out their defense. Green light for your Eagles players this week.

Brady vs. Belichick

The biggest rivalry game of our lifetime is almost upon us. Student vs. Coach. Prodigy vs. Mentor. GOAT vs GOAT. 19 years and six Super Bowls together chronicles an epic story. This chapter, perhaps the last, is as compelling as any. It will be an iconic moment in NFL history so treat it as such and watch with your ‘where were you when’ people. Oh, and start Brady. He doesn’t strike me as a ‘forgive and forget’ kind of dude.

WTF is up with WFT’s D?

In 2020 the Washington Football Team were the #4 ranked defence in the NFL. They had playmakers and studs all over that side of the ball. In 2021, they sit at #29 giving up over 30 points per game. So wtf WFT?  If they cannot get it turned around against the Falcons and the Saints in the next two weeks, they certainly won’t against the Chiefs and Packers the following two. Stay tuned.

Brandin Cooks is locked in.

I mean this literally. In every PPR league in which I have Cooks, he owns his own slice of real estate on my starting roster. And I’m 3-0 in every league. He’s averaging 11 targets per game, has 23 catches for 322 yards and a touchdown. All on a team going nowhere. Cooks will be busy this week against the Bills and no eviction notice is forthcoming. Keep him in the lineup until further notice.

The Stafford and Kupp Bromance.

Is there a more exciting team to watch so far than the Stafford-led Los Angeles Rams? Stafford is completing 70% of his passes, has thrown for 942 yards, 9 touchdowns, and his team is 3-0. Cooper Kupp has 25 catches for 367 yards and is tied for the NFL lead with five touchdowns. These two are ‘must start’ all season long.
