Good W.I.L.L Hunting - Week 13
Every Tuesday, @TrueNorthFFB's very own Will Harris @itsharristime will be providing you with his W.I.L.L (Weekly Insights to Lead Your League). He’ll provide an in-depth positional look at the top waiver wire adds of theweek that are rostered on less than 40% of Yahoo leagues. @itsharristime will also give you three Professor Lambeau Picks just in case you cannot get the recommended waiver add for each position. How Bout Dem’ Apples looks at the stat lines of last week’s waiver wire insights and how @itsharristime fared.
QUARTERBACK
Kirk Cousins - rostered @ 40%, Minnesota Vikings
During the course of a season, I make it a point to not recycle players for this column. I try to build up a player that will help you for more than one game at a time. I try to list players that will help you lead your league week in and week out.
There are players that we need to “hit & quit” and I thought that Kirk Cousins would be one of those after he put up a QB1-esque week, after I recommended him in Week 11 (22.96 f/pts, 314 yards, 3 TDs) against the Dallas Cowboys.
However, Captain Kirk did it again this week against an underrated and tough Carolina secondary and without star WR Adam Thielen. Cousins completed 35/45 attempts, threw for over 300+ yards and 3 TDs with no interceptions. That is good for QB3 on the week.
Cousins and the Vikings faceoff against a Jacksonville Jaguars team at home in week 12 that has given up the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing QBs. The significance of this game being played at home for the Vikings should not be overlooked: Cousins has put up 20+ fantasy points for every game played at U.S Bank Stadium. To say that Kirk likes his meals cooked at home is a gross understatement. With a potential Adam Thielen return, Kirk might not be the QB you want, but he’s the one you need to help clinch a playoff spot.
Professor Lambeau’s Picks

Teddy Bridgewater, 40% - Carolina Panthers

Phillip Rivers, 33% - Indianapolis Colts

Gardner Minshew II* - 12%, Jacksonville Jaguars

RUNNING BACK
Cam Akers - rostered @ 29%, Los Angeles Rams
Cam Akers has continually been a “Professor Lambeau” pick for those of you out there that have had spare roster spots to stash him away. Akers is the perfect example of the type of player you should stash away. He checks all the boxes:
Dominant college production (two 1000+ yard seasons, 18 TDs in 2019) behind a notoriously bad Florida State o-line
-
85th+ percentile athletic testing
-
Early draft capital (2nd round)
-
Ambiguous and clouded depth chart
For those of you that drafted Akers, it has been a frustrating season and with shorter benches, I’d imagine he was a drop candidate at many points within the 2020 season. And rightfully so, as Akers has been hit with injuries missing weeks 3,4, 7, and when playing, did not exceed a 40% snap share once!
It’s important to note that Akers only had a 27% snap share in Week 12, but had 9 touches to Darrell Henderson’s 10. Akers has had 2 TDs in the last two games against tough run defenses (Tampa Bay, San Francisco) and may be in line for additional snaps and touches because he is getting it done on the ground.
If you missed out on Akers last week, chances are that most of your league mates are scared away by the timeshare. Don’t be. Talent > Ambiguity.

WIDE RECEIVER
T.Y Hilton - rostered @ 38%, Indianapolis Colts
With Will Fuller suspended 6 games, you may be in need of a WR1. Why not go with a guy with over 9000+ receiving yards and 46 TDs on his resume?
The “Ghost” is an incredibly apt nickname for T.Y Hilton this season. Up until last week, Hilton was largely invisible on the field.
Hilton’s re-emergence came in a negative game script as the Colts tried to climb back into their divisional matchup with the Titans. Looking deeper into Hilton’s usage recently, it gives me hope for the rest of the season. Week 10 - 5 targets. Week 11 - 6 targets. Week 12 - 5 targets.
Although this isn’t the type of volume we’d expect to support a WR1, we are also going into Week 13. Typically a talent like Hilton isn’t available to us, especially one with his upcoming schedule: Houston, Las Vegas, Houston. These are critical games for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
Professor Lambeau’s Picks
-
Gabriel Davis - 3%, Buffalo Bills
-
Mohammed Sanu - 1%, Detroit Lions
-
Hunter Renfrow - 27%, Las Vegas Raiders
TIGHT END
Trey Burton - rostered @ 19%, Indianapolis Colts
I alluded to it in my T.Y Hilton piece: the Colts were in negative game script vs the Titans and were needing to throw the ball to try and get back in the game. The Colts are a middling passing team (19th in the league), and I don’t want the mirage created from the negative game script to cloud your expectations.
With that off my chest, this isn’t Burton’s first week of fantasy relevance. Burton has 4 games of 10+ f/pts, and is tied for 3rd among TEs with 5 TDs. What’s really interesting with Burton is his Swiss army-like utility - two of Burton’s five TDs have been on the ground.
We know River's propensity and preference to throw to TEs, and, over the last three weeks, his TE of choice has been Burton. Let’s face it, the reality is that Burton offers the biggest upside of TEs available on the waiver wire.
Professor Lambeau’s Picks
-
Tyler Eifert - 6%, Jacksonville Jaguars
-
Dalton Schultz - 22%, Dallas Cowboys
-
Jordan Reed. - 25%, San Francisco 49ers
