NFL DFS was brutal to many in Week 2. We were able to make some money over here at SODFS, but we could have done better. The widely popular Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper stack was a letdown as Cooper dropped a pass in the endzone. We were also reminded that the Dallas Cowboys still love to run the football. Nevertheless, we’re back for Week 3 and we’re looking for better results!

Here are our Top-5 Drafkings targets for Sunday’s main slate as we head into the third week of NFL football.
Jared Goff, QB, $5,200
We’re turning to Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions to kick off this week. Here at SODFS, we are going to try to give you some of the less obvious plays. Admittedly, Goff was not someone I envisioned targeting when this year started. However, the former No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft has played well to start 2021.
Through two games, Goff has scored a total of 53.4 fantasy points on Draftkings. He has thrown five touchdowns but has also thrown two interceptions and lost a costly fumble last week vs the Green Bay Packers in the rain.
The matchup against the Baltimore Ravens isn’t the greatest, but the game script should be favorable for Goff to be throwing. Typically, I’m not a fan of relying on Goff to lead a team back to win once trailing, but for fantasy football, it shouldn’t matter too much.
TJ Hockenson, TE, $5,200
We’re going back to the Lions well here with the previously mentioned, Hockenson. Through two games Hock has 16 receptions, 163 receiving yards, and a touchdown in each game.
TE Red Zone Target Leaders @FantasyPts
Darren Waller 6
TJ Hockenson 4
Gronk
Noah Fant
Jared Cook 3

Last week, the Packers tried to double Hockenson, but to no avail. He was still able to produce solid fantasy numbers and I believe he will do more of the same against the Ravens in Week 3.
I’m curious to see if Baltimore puts Marlon Humphrey on Hockenson, or if perhaps it’s Patrick Queen. Either way, due to the matchup, his price is down. $5.2k is too cheap and we’re putting our faith in the former Iowa Hawk’s athletic ability and potential game script to allow Hockeson to shine in NFL DFS for Week 3.
Justin Herbert, QB, $6,500
Justin Herbert is a guy I feel many might say has been disappointing through the first two weeks. He has been solid in terms of play, but the stellar fantasy numbers haven’t been there yet. We’re looking for that to change in Week 3. Like many other players, Herbert’s price is pretty fair, as the scoring isn’t soft anymore for anyone. In Week 2, Herbie completed 31 of 41 passes, but only had one score and also threw two interceptions.
His passing volume usually provides a safe floor, but this week we’re also expecting a high ceiling. The Los Angles Chargers face Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs this week, in a game that has a projected point total of 55.5.
Herbert should be throwing early and often. We like him for both cash and GPPs.
Chris Godwin, WR, $6,100
Through two weeks of football, Chris Godwin has 18 total targets, including 13 of them in one game. It’s been statistically proven that Brady loves throwing to Godwin and he should continue to do so this week. With a price tag of $6.1k and a matchup against the Los Angles Rams that has a projected point total of 54.5, there is a lot to like here.
Losing Brown for what might be Bucs’ toughest game of the season isn’t good, but receiver might be where Tampa Bay has their best depth. Mike Evans and Chris Godwin take on more, as do backups Tyler Johnson and Scotty Miller. Could mean the debut of rookie Jaelon Darden as well.

Additionally, teammate Antonio Brown was added to the reserve/COVID list for Week 3. This should result in even more usage for Godwin in a fast-paced game with Matthew Stafford and company.
Joe Mixon, RB, $6,300
Through two weeks of NFL football, Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon ranks 2nd among players at his position in carries (49), 3rd in snap rate (80.6%), and 2nd in rushing yards (196).
His pass-catching work makes him even more appealing in NFL DFS.
With the departure of Gio Bernard, the passing game peripherals are there. Mixon has run a route on 61% of Joe Burrow’s dropbacks this season, an improvement on his 45% route share last year. After a monster Week 1, Mixon and the Bengals came back down to earth. This matchup against the Steelers isn’t great but should keep his ownership lower making him a great GPP play with one of the safer workloads of RBs in this range.
