Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Free Agent Fill Ups for Week 14

Work got in the way last week, but I’m back today with my Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Free Agent Fill Ups for Week 14.  For some of you, it’s your last chance to sneak into the playoffs, for others, your playoffs are starting now. Either way, I’ll try to help you out with some bodies to fill out your roster. It’s the last week of byes, and the RB1 is off, as are a few WR2s and some Superflex QBs.

Let’s see what I can do to help you out. As always, I will try to give you at least one player at each position.

Week 14 Byes:

  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Miami Dolphins
  • New England Patriots
  • Philadelphia Eagles

In general, these players will be injury replacements or those who I think have a chance to breakout. Remember, it’s unlikely that someone here will be this year’s James Robinson, but you should find some low-end RB2s, WR3s, and bye week starters with upside potential. Any players listed will be less than 50 percent owned according to fantasypros.com consensus roster percentage.

Once again, take a look at some of my past suggestions.  At this point, it’s obligatory: Tim Patrick is still just 23.2% owned with 10.0 PPR points per game. As I also mentioned back in Week 3, grab Taylor Heinicke. He’s 34.3% rostered and is the QB14 in points per game.

Check out my previous suggestions below, who knows, those players may still be available:

Without further ado, here are players to consider claiming this week:

Taysom Hill, QB, New Orleans Saints

Barring injury, Taysom Hill should be the starter in New Orleans the rest of the season.  He had 25 points in Week 13 against Dallas and his fantasy playoff schedule is pretty favorable with the New York Jets this week, followed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, and Atlanta Falcons. Except for the Panthers, these teams are all in the bottom half of the league in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. He’s 35% owned and with his rushing upside, he’s an excellent QB2 with QB1 potential.

Ameer Abdullah, RB, Carolina Panthers

Chuba Hubbard had been Christian McCaffrey’s backup all season, but in Week 12, it was Abdullah (49%) who led the team in snaps, not Hubbard (20%). Ameer is a long shot, but if you’re desperate for an RB3, then consider him. He’s available in almost 97% of leagues.

Dontrell Hilliard, RB, Tennessee Titans

Before their bye, Tennessee was running an equal timeshare between Hilliard and D’Onta Foreman, but Hilliard has had more success, averaging 8.7 yards per attempt to Foreman’s 4.6. Obviously, Dontrell Hilliard (38.5% rostered) won’t stay at that pace, but expect him to do well against a porous Jacksonville defense this week as you look to piece together a replacement for Jonathan Taylor.

Foreman is also under 40% owned and worth a flier this week since I expect Tennessee to run all over the Jaguars.

Russell Gage, WR, Atlanta Falcons

After a really slow start, including an injury, Russell Gage has really come along. Except for the goose egg against Dallas in Week 10 (and being out Week 8), Russell Gage has scored double-digit PPR points every week since their Week 6 bye, including 18 and 22 in the last two games. With matchups against Carolina and the San Francisco 49ers coming up, expect this trend to continue.  He’s available in almost 70% of leagues, so go for it!

Ricky Seals-Jones, RB, Washington Football Team

There aren’t a lot of tight ends to choose from these days, but Logan Thomas is hurt again, and RSJ may not be. Prior to his injury, Seals-Jones was a great pick-up. Not to mention, Dallas-Philadelphia-Dallas-Philadelphia the next four weeks. Go get him if you need the help; that fantasy playoff schedule is great!

Also, Tyler Conklin, who I mentioned back in Week 4, has been playing well and is under 35% rostered.

May your waiver spot be high enough to get whomever you want to fill up your roster!
