Uh, oh, the high-powered Texans have their bye this week. Don’t worry, I have some replacements on the waiver wire for all of their talent, like Brandin Cooks and, oh wait, that’s it. At least I hope you’re only starting Brandin Cooks from that abysmal team (really deep and 2QB/SF leagues excluded). As always, I will try to give you at least one player at each position.
Week 10 Byes:
- Chicago Bears
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Houston Texans
- New York Giants
In general, these players will be injury replacements or those who I think have a chance to breakout. Remember, it’s unlikely that someone here will be this year’s James Robinson, but you should find some low-end RB2s, WR3s, and bye week starters with upside potential. Any players listed will be less than 50% owned according to fantasypros.com consensus roster percentage. Once again, take a look at some of my past suggestions. Tim Patrick is still under 50 percent rostered and averaging 12.1 PPR points per game. He’s currently the WR29!
Check out my previous waiver wire suggestions below, who knows, those players may still be available:
Free Agent Fill Ups
Without further ado, here are players to consider claiming this week:
Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Denver Broncos
Teddy Bridgwater is a good second quarterback in Superflex and 2-QB leagues. He is averaging 16.7 points per game, making him the QB20 on the season, and is only owned in 25.4% of leagues. If you have Joe Burrow, he is even a decent fill-in this week since the Philadelphia Eagles are giving up 19.6 points per game to quarterbacks.
Jordan Howard, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
This pains me to say, but if you need a running back, you could do worse than picking up Jordan Howard. With 12 and 17 carries the last two weeks, he is getting touches, especially near the goal line (3 TDs in two games). Howard is not anything special, but he could be a serviceable replacement for Joe Mixon or the Bears’ trio.
Darnell Mooney, WR, Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are off this week, so this is a stash, but if you have the roster space, pick up Darnell Mooney. He has become the go-to guy in Chicago. He is involved in more snaps, runs more routes, and, most importantly, gets more targets than Allen Robinson. Mooney has a whopping 26.1% of the target share for the Bears and we have to assume Justin Fields will get better, not worse, at throwing catchable passes, especially with David Montgomery back to take some pressure off of him.
Van Jefferson, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Since I gave you a player on a bye, I decided to throw in another receiver for this week. Van Jefferson is clearly the third option in LA, but he is averaging 4.9 targets and 9.8 PPR points per game. He has an above-average matchup this week, so feel confident starting him as a flex if you need someone to replace Cooks (told you I’d get to him) or the three-headed monster in Cincinnati.
Logan Thomas, TE, Washington Football Team
It’s not often I list players over 50% rostered, but the TE1 is back in Washington! Logan Thomas is currently available in 49.3 percent of leagues. Thomas is eligible to come off IR and may be back at practice this week.
Ron Rivera on Logan Thomas. Said today’s plan was to gauge the status of his injured hamstring. If he feels good, then the TE should be back at practice Wednesday. Still needs to be activated from IR.

If he’s available, get him now or someone else will.
May your waiver spot be high enough to get whomever you want to fill up your roster!
